Spring Newsletter

What a difference a year makes! Spring arrived here a full five weeks earlier than last winter. Pitlochry Station upgrade is now almost completed, we are now just working on re-instating the Armoury Park later this Spring.

Highland Mainline Community Rail Partnership

It has been a very busy Winter for the HML CRP as we organise probably one of the biggest events we are ever likely to undertake.

Highland Fling

In late autumn we visited Kings Cross Station and met with Ian Ball, Station Manager, to discuss the opportunity to take part in Community Rail in the City in May 2019. This is a golden opportunity to promote the Highland Main Line and all the wonderful scenery, visitor attractions and events happening in our communities. So we grasped the "thistle" and with wonderful funding from ScotRail and incredible sponsorship and support from LNER, BAM Nuttall, Walkers Shortbread of Aberlour, Caledonian Sleeper, Blair Castle and the Atholl Highlanders and Pitlochry Festival Theatre we will be bringing "Highland Fling" to Kings Cross on 15th May. We are very excited and not a little stressed at the thought of 46 of us travelling to London and promoting our beautiful line.

Aviemore Station

The launch of the new Highland Line Restaurant took place just before Easter and we enjoyed the launch party. We wish Lorraine and Stephen much success in this wonderful new venture and are certain it will be a great asset to Aviemore and the Station.

Pitlochry Station

And finally Pitlochry Station Bookshop are almost ready to expand into the disused ladies toilets on the Up platform and gain a much needed storage and sorting facility, which they have long needed. Thanks are due to the National Railway Heritage Trust, ScotRail/Abellio, Basil D'eath Trust, Andie Millar Trust, Enchanted Forest Community Fund, Pitlochry Street Party and the Green Park Hotel for funding this project.

As most of us are also Station Adopters, we will also be busy for the next few weeks, emptying winter bedding and planting up our Stations for the coming summer.

Call in and see us on 15th May if you are in London!
